The issue of facades in Bulgaria has its own specific characteristics. Its relevance is determined by the need to clarify the means and professional techniques used to achieve visual expressiveness in some of the best examples of our architecture in the second half of the 20th century. This research project is part of the "Processes in the Development of Contemporary Bulgarian Architecture" program and aims to trace the changes over time in the visible image of architectural works. Based on literary sources, rich factual material that has been researched, selected, and systematized, as well as the results of previous studies, generalized characteristics of the stages in the development of architecture in Bulgaria during the eventful half-century period have been identified. The monograph highlights the works of Bulgarian architects, comparable to the world achievements of the time, as well as the main differences between architecture in Bulgaria during the socialist era and that in countries with developed democracies. It also traces the changes that have taken place in the appearance of a number of buildings after decades of use.
