Summary
The collection is composed entirely of archival materials. They have been selected with a view to the compact ethnological information about the traditional culture of the Bulgarians from Thrace, Dobrudja and the Western Outskirts, who experienced the hardships of migration and refugee life due to the cruel historical upheavals. Along with official documents from officially engaged persons, the collection is dominated by descriptions of direct participants in the migration processes or their heirs. They not only preserve the memory of family and ancestral history, but also convey very accurately the cultural characteristics and ethnic traditions of their ancestors. The ethnographic characteristics of the Bulgarians from these regions are shown as part of the all-Bulgarian cultural system.
